Short answer to both questions:
Yes.
But, again, in true James fashion, there is obviously more to it than that.
Can I teach you magick?
Yes, I can teach you magick.
But what you are asking for is a serious undertaking. I will not take every student, and certainly not for free.
First things first: you need to have some experience with magick already. That does not mean you need to be an expert. Maybe you have casually cast a spell here and there. Maybe you have worked with divination, prayer, ritual, candles, meditation, or another spiritual practice. But you need to have some kind of feel for it.
I cannot work with someone who is terrified of the supernatural, someone who knows absolutely nothing about magick, or someone who does not have the maturity to understand what it means to live as an occultist, magician, or witch.
This is not something you pick up as a hobby and casually revisit once in a while.
This is something you do for life.
Hobby-level effort will only bring hobby-level results. We are talking about adopting a spiritual paradigm; something that can border on religious belief. It can take years before you feel truly comfortable performing larger-scale rituals properly.
I am not saying that to scare you off. I am saying it because your request needs to be held to a high standard of scrutiny.
How serious are you?
Do you understand that magick is not generally safe?
Is magick dangerous?
Yes.
And anyone who thinks it is harmless, New Age-y fun is foolish and is eventually going to be humbled by the spiritual forces that govern this world.
Magick is dangerous.
You are inviting the supernatural and spiritual forces to influence your life. Magick is the art of manipulating cause and effect through will. There is very little out there that can be more potentially dangerous than that when it is approached carelessly.
That is why you need to be competent in the work.
That is why you need years of study, practice, and experience.
That is why necessary safety precautions need to be in place.
This is also why people like me are hired to do magick on someone else’s behalf. So you do not have to spend years, or decades going through the study, theory, practice, trial and error, and discipline required to make something happen safely and effectively.
I have learned the ins and outs of the work. I have spent years making sure I understand how to approach it safely and properly. This is why these things take time. This is why they become pivotal subjects in a practitioner’s life.
Dedicate yourself to the work for life, or leave it to the professionals.
You would do that for a doctor. You should extend the same seriousness to the supernatural.
Wouldn’t it be better if I did the spells myself?
Well, yes.
But you probably already know where I am going with this.
What you are purchasing from me is not the type of magick a beginner should attempt as their first working. You just do not start there.
Doing spells yourself with limited information, knowledge, and practice might be fun. It might even yield a thing or two. But are you going to create unfathomable, life-changing results?
Ehhh. I would not bet on it unless you have been practicing for years.
And people who are genuinely experienced in magickal practice know how high the bar for entry can be.
Materials get expensive. They are not something to skimp on. Books will send you down a wild goose chase toward older books that teach the foundations. Then you open another can of worms: now you have to interpret historical texts, understand old terminology, compare editions, research the period the author lived in, and understand the context they were writing from.
My God. There is a lot to unpack.
And we have not even reached the point where “casting a spell” is on the radar yet.
Not every practice is open for everyone to learn
This is another thing people need to understand before they decide they want to “learn magick.”
Not every spiritual or magical practice is open to the public.
Some traditions are closed, initiatory, lineage-based, or community-specific. They may require formal initiation, years of training, permission from an elder or teacher, cultural membership, religious commitment, or a relationship with an established house, temple, coven, or community.
That is not people being elitist. That is how many traditions protect their teachings, preserve their integrity, and make sure serious practices are taught with the context, responsibility, and accountability they require.
You cannot simply find a ritual online, copy it word for word, and assume you are practicing that tradition.
Some systems will not recognize you as a practitioner unless you have been initiated. Some teachings are not meant to be sold, shared publicly, or practiced outside of their proper community. Some spirits, rites, names, songs, prayers, and ceremonial roles are not yours to claim just because you found them in a book, on social media, or in a Google search.
This is especially important when dealing with living religious traditions.
There is a difference between learning about a practice and claiming that practice as your own.
You can study respectfully. You can appreciate a tradition. You can seek out legitimate teachers when the tradition permits it. But you do not get to bypass a community’s rules because you want quick access to its power.
That is not how respect works. And it is not how serious spiritual practice works.
Part of becoming a responsible practitioner is knowing where your lane is, what you have permission to do, what requires training, and what is simply not yours to touch.
I am not trying to turn you away from learning
If you have a genuine passion for learning magick, please learn.
I mean that.
I am not here to discourage you. I am here to tell you that this is an incredibly loaded question, and it cannot be answered properly with a simple yes or no.
There is a difference between wanting to learn magick because it calls to you and wanting to do one spell because you need help with a specific situation.
Both are valid.
But they are not the same thing.
This is why people hire me.
The truth is that many people do not want to go through all of that study, training, research, expense, discipline, and practice. They want the benefit of the work without making it their life’s path.
That makes sense.
That is a completely valid reason to hire someone.
It is not because someone is lazy. It is because they understand that serious magick takes dedication, time, resources, and discipline..and their mundane life may not have room for years of study just to perform a small spell here and there.
That is a horrible payoff for most people.
Think of it like hiring a personal trainer
It is the same reason people hire personal trainers.
Yes, you can get a gym membership. You can lift weights. You can run on a treadmill for an hour. Depending on where you are starting, that may get you somewhere.
But a personal trainer is a completely different thing.
They have training, education, and certifications. They help you with your goals, diet, routine, recovery, functional fitness, and accountability. They help you build real strength rather than simply looking good. They help you avoid injury. They help you figure out what works for your body and your actual life.
You may not technically need a personal trainer, but you may make leaps and bounds in progress with one.
Magick is similar.
We all have massive goals in different areas of our lives. But greatness usually requires a learning process that takes years.
Magick in execution can feel like a shortcut. Learning magick is something entirely different. It is a process that can take years. Decades, even.
All the greats had coaches. Michael Jordan. Mike Tyson. Roger Federer. Muhammad Ali.
They did not achieve greatness alone. They had people who showed them the way.
What makes us think we can do the same with magickal practice?
You can Google spells until you have exhausted your keyboard searching for solutions. But you can only go so far.
I am just being realistic.
So, what is the answer?
Can I teach you magick?
Yes.
I offer 90-day intensive programs for experienced practitioners who are serious about developing their practice. If that sounds like you, contact me.
But if your question is, “Should I just do the spell myself instead of hiring you?”
My answer is this:
Commit to years of practice, or seek a professional to help you.
That is the best and safest advice I can offer.
